    After the dust has settled......

Ahhhh..... its nice to be bashing out another post on this farmiliar purple background VB forum...! its been too long between posts, and reading what everyone else has been upto/blowing up/etc..

I AM BEST HACKER? um..... no you ain't...... your a low-life and most likely some pimply script kiddie getting your jollies by executing some hacks that u picked up on some IRC channel.... so zero skill involved in that im sad to say..... and anyway, you fail to construct propper english statements.... not a good start!

welp my life has changed a bit in the past month or so too..... got retrenched from my previous job (developing web pages/IT work/ASP/SQL/etc) along with 5 others due to their foolish ways, poor management, lack of funds and grand visions with huge egos... of course all of management are 'essential' and therefore kept their jobs! so what is left now is a company with two coders and 6 managers above them.... not a good balance in my book!

..... but im glad to say the last larf is gonna be on me. Word of my departure got out and I was head hunted by one of the firms that were a client of my old work...... and they offered me a position to work for them directly. And being on a contract basis the pay rate is HUGE.... so I now make more money doing 10 hrs a week than I was doing a full 38 hour shift for my last employer!!!!

but the real icing on the cake is that I have been told that no further work will be going to my previous employer (since they dont think they will survive as a company!) and instead all that work is going to me direct!! its nice to know that the person they fired after 2 1/2 years of loyal service is now keeping further work away from them that they so dearly need..... but I hope they rot in hell and loose alot of money from their own pockets!!!

..... and in the world of mp3car..... made a few software mods the other day, upgraded to Winamp 2.81 with the updated Direct Sound Cross-fading driver..... turns out that the previous one with version 2.78 had a serious bug in it causing low quality sound on certian older sound cards!!!!!! so basically I have been driving around for around 3 months (since I got my TFT setup going) with 'semi-good' quality sound... which is now back to its full 44.1Khz CD Audio (well close to - its mp3 after all!!) quality!! In addition was surfing to some old haunts and visited SQRsoft (http://www.sqrsoft.com.ar/) and discovered their free little DSP winamp application 'Sqrsoft Limiter' ( http://www.sqrsoft.com.ar/files/dsp_cmpexp.zip ) which is basically a normalisation pluging, like the old 'rocksteady' but to my surprise alot better.... with no drastic/sweeping volume changes..... and automatically gives alot of my softer mp3 files a great boost to their output volume..... well worth a check out ppls....

anyway.... enuff ranting... (this hasta be some kind of record!).... look forward to many more 'hacker free' mp3car forum sessions!!!!

great news about the job, sounds what i need 10 hours a week!

me packs bags for melbourne j/k

i also suggest you use the MAD plugin, replaces the input plugin that comes with winamp sounds better, even better if you got a 24bit capable sound card like turtle beach\Videologic like me and also DFX with ambience turned off.

i fiinished my cert IV surface mining course did work exp and didnt really persue getting a job, although should have abit more then imight have some money. but now im back at TAFE doing network and software development, and planning on carrying onto the diploma of networking end of 2003.

but i think i might go put in a job application form for kmart tommorrow for packing :/ so i might beable to save and get a new computer next year. dont see a car in my future for atleast another 2 years.

Hey! lol, great work on the job front

As for 'Best Hacker', well I've been looking for an excuse to vent a little about such a loser who needs to sooth his inferiority complex by making himself the big man online.

This is the kind of guy who tries to hide the fact he cheats at CS, and shows off his l337 scores. I don't know whether to hate him or pity him, since he is so obviously a victim of bullying and feels the need to go bully others.

Ah well, as I'm sure he can now see, he proves ultimately insignificant, and we are back and will continue to grow as a community

That's happened to a lot of people I've worked with (including me, I didn't get retrenched, but everything else is the same).

If you don't mind me asking, where did you work ? I've worked for a lot of IT/Web/Multimedia companies (eg. Sausage/Method, Eclipse Group) and I know what it's like to lose 10 good people for no good reason.

    Cheers, Spud.

thanks guys for your kind words above.... and like bradf0rd said, its good to see the community back here straight back into it after the downtime.... I reckon we would have been givin that 'sorry we aint up yet' page a DOS attack with all the hits!!

well to rubbish a company name.... (and I will!) the company was ibaseglobal ( http://ibaseglobal.com ) and im glad to have left.... funny you mention Eclipse, once of my mates who went the same time I did (a bit older than me tho... in his 30's) has now picked a Senior project manager position there!!

and Paulzy, I used to run DFX, but didnt like it... but that was prob cause the output was still getting downsampled to 22kHz!!! so I might haveta re-instate that as my DSP plugin and finally, do you know where to get a Turtle Beach sound card in Aust??? cause I read some really good things about em... and I wish to upgrade soonish to a higher end S/C but dont wanna go with Creative again.....

Glad to hear you got a killer new job. I dunno if I'm going to be in the position I'm in here at SBC for that much longer. I'm debating on putting a transfer request.
