    Before anybody yells at you:

There are lots of posts about the cold weather issue just hot search and your off.

The general opinion is that it doesn't hurt. There are however a few things you can do for very cold weather as well very hot weather.

Search the posts and you'll see.

I have to say I left my system in the trunk of an 85 honda accord, and when I took it out to put in the new civic ( about a month ) The 90 or higher degree heat had toasted my brand new soundblaster live mp3 edition.

I found a solution, but its winter now. I got a new card, and am waiting for summer to see if I need the solution, this company (I will see if i can find the name and web page), but they make 12 vold AC systems, this is no fan, its a complete miniature AC system. they quoted me 200.00 for a base unit.

gizmomkr: I highly doubt that 90 degree weather toasted your SB card. The inside of the computer gets much hotter then that under normal use. I have seen machines run without a power supply fan for weeks and come out with no damage. I would assume that your card was defective from the start and the lower then normal heat had very little to do with it's failure.

The generan consensus on temperature: If it is cold enough or hot enough to effect the PC, then you wouldn't be living there.

    I cant say I agree -
I used the system alot in the old car, and it worked fine, I shut it off one day, and bought a new car. I changed *nothing* in the system originaly when moving it from car to car, and the only thing that was wrong was the sound card failed . I tried everything, spent an hour on the phone with creative labs, they said the card was toast.

Yes a system could run at 90 or higher, but its going to last longer has have less problems runing at 70. Have you ever been in a data center -they keep them at 70 for a reason.
