Correct me if i am wrong...about to add a car pc

Alright guys I am fairly new still to this carpc stuff and have never actually installed one or seen one in person but i would really like to add one to my system soon, i have an 07 Silverado and I am really into higher end audio I am a regular at caraudio.com, i have questions on how to connect one

    the setup...

    -Pioneer DEH-P880PRS
    -Rainbow Germanium Components
    -2 10" TC Sounds TC-7 subs
    -DLS CA41 Comp Amp
    -Memphis MCD-1000d sub amp
    -SecondSkin Sound deadening
    -KnuKonceptz wiring

The way i have run this stuff is i bought a GMOS-LAN-01 adapter and connected the all the wires except for the speaker wire coming directly from the amp, i ran that directly into the doors so i wouldn't have to deal with the stock wiring (which i originally was using).....that lan unit connects to my head unit's wiring harness and then i run the three rca's from the amps into my head unit and there you have it

    now the questions...

i am planning on getting an Infill G4, but i want to keep my pioneer head unit because i love all the processing and sq etc etc how would i do this?

would i have to just get power to the carputer, run the gps antenna, and then simply connect the carputer to an aux in on my head unit?

if i do this it will play all of the sound coming from it through my headunit into my speakers correct? including gps voice and all the clicks and touch confirmations?

can someone explain this to me or give me a good example of a head unit running with a carputer

thanks alot guys and i will be happy to share pics of the install when i get it done

yes thanks for the faq link i just read it...

when i run music from the computer/streetdeck through the head unit it will be processed and still sound good right?

also does the head unit go into aux 1 mode instead of say being in cd or tuner mode, is this a seperate mode where it knows and tells you the audio is coming from the computer/aux input?

mainly i am just worried about keeping the sq becuase i have put a lot of work and tweaking into my system

    thanks for your help

if you're going to send the audio from the PC back through the HU you should be fine.

Do you have room for a double din HU AND your current HU? The G4 might be a bit overkill for you. I might suggest utilizing one of the custom car computers from the store. You can flush mount the screen in your dash and hide away the computer it's self. This way you just have one CD drive up front. If you want to play a DVD you can put it in at the PC or your can rip it to the HDD.

There are a number of steps that you will need to take to ensure the SQ is the best it can be. No one can line these out to you, you will have to research them. I've spent the last 3+ years determining the steps necessary and have posted my findings along the way. These methods have been very successful in my application and I'm hoping they will prove to be successful again here in about 2 weeks when we go to IASCA finals and in another 6 weeks or so for USACi finals.

I'd really recomend spending some time in our car audio forum. There's a great deal of info about how to achieve some great quality sound using a PC.

If your headunit has an aux input, it should indicate that it is playing input through that aux input.

There are quite a few members that compete in SQ competitions. If it's good enough for them....
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?
