    Mp3/MPEG error?

Everything was fine last morning. I downloaded AIM 6.5 on the computer and now my music/video files have stopped working on all programs (wmp, rp, qt, wa, zune, itunes, ect.."

For example, on Zune software, it comes up with this message
"Zune software either does not support the file type or does not support the codec that was used to create the file."

Its like this for every files that worked fine for months, up until last night. This really sucks. Solution?

Well, it happened when you installed AIM, right?
I think you found your culprit right there.

You should be able to re-associate media files with the appropriate apps in Folder Options from the Windoze Cntrol PAnel.
Another option is to do a System Restore to a point before you instlled AIM, then either don't reinstall AIM, or install it and choose a custom install without registering file types (assuming AOHell gives you that option).
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.

I uninstalled AIM, nothing. Did a system restore to 5 days ago (installed aim 4 days ago) and after 5 failed attempts, I gave up. Windows restore kept having errors. How do I re-associate the media files? in folder options?

    windows says
Windows Media Player cannot access the file. The file might be in use, you might not have access to the computer where the file is stored, or your proxy settings might not be correct.

I played with the options in the control panel and no success. what the hell is going on??

    perhaps.

maybe a really dumb question, but is there a way to .....reset vista? altogether? without having to buy another instal disk, of coarse.

i get the EXACT same problems. i'm running Windows Vista on a Compaq laptop, and it's definitely from AIM 6.5 since this has happened before and immediately after installing it, all this crap came up. The only solution that worked for me was to completely reinstall Windows.

-MP3's will not play in any program (iTunes, WinAmp, VLC, WMP, RealPlayer). The track time just hangs at "0:00" or gives an error
-Windows Firewall and Malware Protection keep getting turned off, and Windows no longer recognizes Norton Antivirus.
    -System Restore no longer works.
-I still have a wireless connection, but I can't change/view my wireless settings, anytime I try to open anything related to the network, the window freezes.

The crappiest part is that AIM's help website is a joke and it's impossible to find anything about this.
