    Do NOT buy from DigiNetKey

I decided to stop pussy-footing about with my CarPC and do it right from the get go, this involved getting a proper GPS module like a BU-353. DigiNetKey came up almost first on eBay with a comparable price and had it 'in stock and ready to ship'. I proceeded with a 'Buy It Now' for 45.99 item + 7.50 shipping + 3.50 insurance but my payment was refused via their payment system. Upon this happening I reviewed their terms of sale and assured I had complied and retried, upon a second failure I sent an e-mail concerning my issue and was welcomed with neutral assistance.

This became the start of a wasteful correspondence war when all I wanted to do was spend some money and get a product in a reasonable time frame.

Here is the e-mail chain that followed:

    Thanks,

Now even though it doesn't state that eBay is excluded I conceded in hopes of just getting my original product. Although you'd think in the sake of customer service they'd offer this 5-10% discount on my NEXT purchase as it states being that that would secure them an additional purchase from me in the future.

At this point I was just annoyed as I provided as much info as possible to prove to them that I had confirmed my status and information, yet they continued to ignore me.

If you had read my e-mail in full you would have seen that my address is CONFIRMED and is my default address for all shipments. I have since even removed the other two addresses from my office in order to assure a smooth transaction, however you continue to insist on complications.

I'll find another reseller offering the BU-353 product, it is fairly common and I'm sure I won't have to deal with these sorts of issues from another reseller. I highly suggest you check your shopping cart/checkout system for an error as my PayPal account is accurate and has been functional for six other transactions with address confirmation requirements in the last eight days.

    Thank you,
    -Kris
After this response they opened an eBay dispute for non-payment and further 'arguing' ensued.

This is what annoyed me most, after SEVERAL days they still have ignored my previous points of proof to indicate I've met their requirements.

Instead of repeating I should check your policies, please read my messages and understand not only
have I read them but have complied with them completely and provided proof as such.

    The other
item has already arrived without the complications of ebay or ignorant sellers who do not read.
I've gone elsewhere but luckily have a friend who also wanted a BU-353 so he's going to buy one of them from me.

Bypassing their payment page and paying via PayPal's console worked flawlessly... at least I thought so...

    You

    S/H was incorporated into the cost: 45.99 Item + 7.50 S/H
    + 3.50 = 56.99

Information was pulled directly from eBay by using the ebay item feature within
    PayPal and item number: 170160246931

If you wish to continue being ignorant then by all means
    cancel it.
I really hate how eBay limits how much you can type, 500chars is really quite little.

The blurred images are blurred only for posting here, since they were involved in the transaction the seller could see my full information without censorship.

Needless to say, whether I get my BU-353 from them still or not I will never do business with them again. Their 'customer support' is rude and will not listen to the customers concern before responding at all. I work in IT and am in school for electrical engineering, I know well enough about how easy it is to assume someone doesn't know what they are doing but you have to ignore that impulse and look at the whole picture. I do not suggest anyone buy from them, not unless they improve their flawed system.

I will be very annoyed if I end up with any form of negative feedback from this as I've always taken care as both a buyer and seller on eBay to assure my feedback is positive and that everyone involved in the transaction is content.

If only there were some alternative that offered carPc parts at reasonable prices?

Somehwere where the people who sold the items were actively involved in this hobby?

Where they were even on the cutting edge of developing new software and hardware?

And provided a platform so that people could exchange ideas and experiences related to Car-computing?

If only the world were so perfect!

    Man-Oh-Man!

I have been through that routine before. It usually involves resellers who sell a wide variety of things and have a limited comprehension of English.

Did ebay get involved? How about paypal? Sounds like exactly the sort of thing they should mediate.

eBay is involved via a 'dispute', PayPal isn't typically concerned unless someone doesn't get their money or product, time will tell if they are necessary.

    Moved to general discussion.
This has nothing to do with GPS functionality, but the worthiness of a reseller.
It's good information, just not appropriate for the GPS forum.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Well, based of the insults they tossed around in correspondance, that's one seller that is definitely off my list!

I too, am a Jew, so I can relate. I have spent hours scouring ebay for a hard drive that was $10 cheaper than the next. I completely understand that you want the cheapest price. I still do shop around quite a bit, just about every purchase. But I have come to understand that every thing has its value in the eye of the buyer. In my eyes, I have come to find that the convenience and support of mp3car is worth an extra $10-$15. Just because what we do is so specialized it helps to have people that know what they are doing as vendors. It is probably the only loyalty that I have online, for other purchases I go with pricegrabber and find the best deal.

    Good luck with resolving this!

Well it is resolved and should ship today... I'm convinced that their online sales 'department' is either incompetent or just plain lazy and is most assuringly quite rude.

The argument about not paying the correct amount continued, and due to their bullish attitudes or possibly stupidity they didnt realize that the way they listed the payment table through e-bay, it segments the single payment into three details (as most eBay auctions do); first being the item price, second is the shipping and third was the 'optional' insurance that wasn't optional. :/

I hate to say 'I love being right" but damn, when someone is so content in the idea that you are wrong and even makes a public display about it (ebay dispute) I'm going to do my best to show what idiots they are.

Makes sense, and MP3car is GREAT for that, customer support is their biggest selling point IMO because they do take care of people very well -- I guess thats the difference between buying from K-Mart and buying from Sak's Fith Ave. This experience showed me that 'K-Mart' definitely sucks.

Would you rather be right or happy?

There is a lot to be said for buying from reputable stores. I checked my favorite place for GPS stuff and found it for the same price you paid, including $8 for three day shipping.
