it works.. auto syncing when you arrive home

ok so I have been trying to get the car computer to sync my music and movies with my home media drive when i pull upto the house I have done it. here is how.

Grab the car detector program from this thread.

    http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/othe...-new-post.html

Install the server end on a machine that is always on and has either the music or a map to the music drive on it.

then download and install synctoy 2.0 on the same machine .

next on your car computer configure your music drive or folder to allow shared access and then install the client part of the car detector program on the car pc.

    NEXT the inital setup.....

with your car pc on and connected to your home network goto the machine with the synctoy on and map a drive to the music folder on your car pc. You shoudl be able to see your music files once connected.

then with sync toy set up a sync folder ( just follow the prompts on sysnctoy ) between the music drive on yoru server and the music drive you just mapped. you can manually hit sync if you want to get the inital database updated.

ok next in the server part of the car detector program on yoru machine set it up to run a program when it connects. click on programs under the action tab and select synctoy.
next under detection method check client on car pc then click ok

one last thing to do.. edit the .ini file under the car detect folder under programs on your server machine and where you see the link to synctoy add a -r after the .exe This tell sync toy to sync the folders when run

i9f all goes well the next time you pull up the car detect shoudl sense the presence of the car link and run synctoy which in turn will sync all your files.... i would reommed adding a delay of 5 mins - 10 mins for your car computer to run after you turn off the ignition to give it time to sync before the computer powers down/

Comments and improvements on this are more than welcome

thanks but possibly there is a way that the carputer can detect its home and out so it doesnt have to stay on the extra 5-10 minutes... And also maybe have the carputer auto turn off after the sync
