Thread: Accident caught on my dashcam

The grinding sound you can hear is my ABS going schitz.

Happened this morning at 9:05am. You guys are probably hearing about it before his insurance company.



I am talking my my 3yo who's in the back seat and had just said "it sounds like rain" so I was explaining that driving through slush sound like rain. He's the one who says "What?" after I stop.

When I said "I'm gonna have to..." I was thinking about the last time I was in an accident where I swerved to avoid a car that cut me off and wound up hitting someone else. I was blamed in the accident because, as I was told be a police officer, "You shouldn't have swerved - you should have just hit the car that cut you off". :-/ This was going through my mind and I was thinking "I'm going to have to hit him". What I mean was I believed that if I swerved into the ditch then my car would be wrecked and I'd be blamed for it again.

Thanks to ABS (the grinding sound you can hear as I'm braking) I was able to get past him without leaving the roadway, so there was no contact between my car and the BMW. I was only doing about 20mph but the snow was still fresh and there was very little traction - so it took a long time to stop even with ABS assistance. The video shows that I simply had no time to stop even though my braking reaction time was very quick. Car is a 2005 Subaru Legacy.
