From memory, no, you cannot send audio signals through the DVI standard.
DVI is backwards-compatible with HDMI, which CAN transfer both the DVI video signals as well as audio signals.
However, DVI is video only.
Hi guys need a question answered, I have a DVI-I output, and I would like to know if it is possible to output Left and Right audio channels out of the DVI plug?
I have read conflicting information, and cannot find a definitive answer.
Any good links someone could point me too, that deals with audio output and the DVI standard?
Thanks

Certain ATI video cards can output audio though the DVI port to an HDMI cable. Mainly for HTPC use. Why would you need this anyways?
