Has anyone seen anything documented on the internet that would connect the CD shuttle head unit of a stereo upto your PC? I'm sure alot out there have in dash stereos that have the built-in controls to operate a shuttle. There's gotta be a way to have the shuttle cord plug into the serial port or something of the PC and then control winamp from it. Wouldn't that be awesome? It would be great for playing MP3's anyways and it would look like you're simply controlling a shuttle when really you'd be going through your mp3 collection on your pc. Probably take a lot of programming to get a winamp plug-in etc to work but it would be a great.

was it discussed in this message board? I couldn't find it. What should I search on?
When and where was it done on the pioneer units? I've searched many times.Originally posted by Skippman

I`m currently running a pioneer HU with the AUX in hack (oh yes it works, works like a charm), but if I could add controls to winamp from my HU I would be over the moon!
I thought It had been done on a sony headunit![]()
I thought it had just been done on a sony joystick that was only used with the carpc and not the headunit.

In response to Leeroy's question....which has to do with interfacing so that you can control the computer via changer shuttle control here are some threads I found....
Thread 1
Thread 2
Thread 3
Hopefully that helps....for the rest of you trying to just get sound through the changer...search on Aux In and you will find threads on hacking Pioneer and Alpine...not sure about the rest though.
Ok, obviously you havn't looked hard enough. I think I did this for the first time (myself that is) 3 years ago on a saab stock head unit.

Sony sells a unit somewhat along these lines - XA-300
