Automotive carpet

I am having no luck finding automotive carpet to match my interior. I've looked for stores on the net but am not finding what I'm looking for.

FYI I've been to a few stereo shops in the area and no one is willing to order and sell me the carpet.. only if they're doing the install I've been told... a$$holes...

Does anyone have any suggestions?

one word : "junkyard"

That's where I got carpet for my car... Well not true, my GF's brother owns a shop and one day told me that he has a wrecked '98 Cavalier (mine is a '97) in his lot and if I wanted anything to go for it, so I stole some trunk carpet and carpeted my box, now it looks great!

good call... except that mine is a 2002 Trailblazer and they've only been out for a few years.. and it needs to be about a 5' by 6' piece with no seams or holes...

I'm building about a 6" raised false floor for the cargo space in the back to mount the computer, amps, and sub in (in the recessed cargo space).

SO maybe I could continue my search for the carpeting. Thanks though!

You'd be surprised how quickly new cars can appear in the junkyard.

If there is a piece that size in your car, then chances are you can find a piece that large in the junkyard... Keep in mind that trunk carpet is rather ubiquitous... you can almost certainly find other similar cars that have the same colour carpet as yours does.

And it'll be far far far cheaper than you can find retail.

If the junkyards are no good to you, have you tried auto-trimmers? The guys that do upholstery for cars? A lot of these guys work in small quantities, and may have an end of a roll or something that may suit.

A suggestion: Run a few strap of aluminium spaced about a foot apart down the length of your cargo bay - it will help protect the carpet, and look trick.

Most cars (all?) have a Vehicle information sticker on them somewhere that has a listing of all the options and the paint and colour codes, that might be of some help when matching things up.
