    issues with the cold.

im sure it has been discussed before, but i cant find anything relevent when i search.

does anyone know why when its 13*F outside and i attempt to boot my carputer it wont boot, hell it wont even post or beep?

i need to run the heat for about 15 minutes before its warm enought to boot.

i am running a fv25 with 600mhz cely. if that makes any difference.

    thanks

Search for winter results in this

I knew what to look for as I posted to this thread several times.

I think this may help you:

    Quoted from Seanster
I live near Toronto and had my Maxtor 17 gig in there last winter. I never had a problem with it except for a couple times when I hit bumps too hard and dislodged the removable rack it's in. Other than that, my 5" playstation lcd would be quite dim until it warmed up.

Had to turn off the motherboard temperature monitor in the bios because it was < 0 degrees C and it would ***** about it every time I booted up.

It regularly ran below freezing. There was often water droplets present in the case after it had been running for a while and warmed up. The solution there was to stop looking.

Who gives a damn if something dies anyway? Just replace the hardware with something 1/2 the price and twice as good. Your vehicle is more likely to break down in the cold weather than the computer, and cost a lot more to fix.

    END Quote

Hope it works out for you.

Just a note.. the reason you don't necessarily need to worry about the water droplets is beause condensation should be pretty close to pure water. Pure water does NOT conduct electricity contrary to popular belief. In order for it to conduct it must have some sort of solute disolved in it.
