    RCA Level Adjusters

Anyone know where I could get something that I plug in line of an rca audio cable and it will have like a knob on it or something to adjust the level? I'm getting a sub for my TJ but want to be able to adjust the levels while listening to a song. Thanks

If you want to control the level of bass just by an amp that has a remote boost control. Like JL Amp http://www.jlaudio.com/amps/5001.html# This what I'm going to do.

If you want full range vol control then go with a audio control piece (http://www.audiocontrol.com/caraudio.htm). Don't know how much you want to spend but this is pretty good stuff.

sounds like you need an eq with a sub volume knob or get a sub amp with a bass boost knob

the sub already has an amp, its one of those clarion camofluage subs with a class d amp already.

it *might* have a bass knob on it by the looks of it, but not sure, and if it does i'd have to remount it cuz it's in a crappy location.

i don't want to spend much

I would go the audio control route. Grab a EQ or some kind of processor that will give you the control. This way is going to cost you atleast 100 bucks unless you get lucky on ebay. A cheap way out is one of the following:

    http://www.cetaceasound.com/ab163.htm
    http://www.chromeworld.com/jm/volumecontrol.html
    http://www.cybermarket.co.uk/ishop/923/shopscr183.html

I think I've also see something like this in Radio shack.

You can also go withing something like this http://www.smarthome.com/8250.html designed for the house but should work fine in the car.

If you want to go the digital route you might want to go with something like this http://www.aaroncake.net/circuits/volume.htm it should reduce any noise you might pick up when running the audio cables up to the front. Just extend the s1 and s2 wire to the front.

The REALLY cheap way out is just buy a volume knob and run wires back and fourth. You'll need one that is double polled if you want to run a stereo signal. You don't have to in this case because its a sub, you'd be ok with a mono connection.

I haven't gotten the site up for it yet, but if you go to the showoff section it's listed under "Rugid Waves"

freestyler, are you using a head unit? I have a self powered sub amp as well, and my head unit has the sub crossover built in, with volume control.

If all you need is a simple remote volume control, go to www.davidnavone.com and you will find what you need. Look under "Line Drivers" and the first item is what I have in my truck. Simple inline install. Works great. Just adjust the sub to it's max ouput and then use this control to go from max to mute. Simple and easy. Email him if you have questions. He has great suggestions.
