Will paypal $10 to anyone who can help me with this.

My system is a biostar ideq 210v computer with an opus 150w power supply. It was working fine for about 6 months, then I got an error screen one day saying there was a floppy drive error, so I went to take the floppy drive out completely and there wasnt one. So i went into the bios and saw it was trying to boot from the floppy for some reason, so i fixed that and told it to boot from harddrive and because i was a dumbass I thought i could make it faster at booting up I changed some other settings around too. Well i went to restart it and it just went to the boot up screen and stayed there. So i tried to reset it with the jumpers but now the computer wont turn on at all. The power supply is giving me the 2 green lights every 5 seconds error which means theres a problem with the motherboard. Can anyone here help me figure out the problem? or will i need another motherboard. If you can help me get it working again I will paypal you $10.

Here is the pdf manual for my computer: ftp://ftp.biostar-usa.com/manuals/ID...210Vmanual.pdf

    edit:
ok i put in the original power supply that came with it and plugged it in the wall. The computer starts up, fans and all for about 5 seconds then the fans all shut down. There is supposed to be a blue and orang light on the face of the computer when its on, during this only the orange light was on, and the blue light would only come on when i pressed the reset button, but the reset button did not start the fans back up again.

So i tried taking everything out, memory, hard drive, sound card, cd drive, everything except the processor. Same thing happened, computer turns on for about 5 seconds and then shuts off. But during this time, the blue led on the front is blinking every couple of seconds.

I tried resetting the cmos while everything was out and it did nothing.

Tried removing the battery again and it did nothing.

    Any ideas now?

Your original problem was probably because either your harddrive failed or the boot files on the harddrive got corrupted.

Probably doesn't help with your existing problem though

When this happens to me, i pull out the memory, hard drive cables, everything and try to boot it. Then reseat the memory, boot, etc... until i find what was causing the problem. Usually reseating cables or memory fixes it, or i had a cable in backwards.

    hope that helps.

Start over, I'm afraid to say.

Not saying a new mobo yet, but as said above:
pull all possible cables and parts from the computer, and if you can, reset CMOS (pull the battery and let it sit a while if need be) and try it.

It MAY be as simple as an invalid BIOS/CMOS setting, it may be that something has died- could be ram, drive or yes, cpu or mobo.
But you'll need to test things out.

For future reference, I strongly recommend some caution with CMOS settings: unless you know exactly what this or that setting DOES, only change one thing at a time.

    reset the CMOS

Look in the manual for the motherboard/system. Usually as simple as popping out the CMOS battery (with all power unplugged) and let it sit for a minute or so. Pop it back in and hope for the best. I had a voltage drop yesterday in my car which shut down my inverter, and the comp wouldn't start, thankfully I have been tinkereing with computers since I can remember (hey im only 19, but it started young)

    Get back to us!

    Good luck

EDIT* or to reset CMOS, there is usually a spot where you can short out, like a jumper or similar

I also use a biostar mobo (x533) and it worked...so good luck!

Alright i messed with it today, realized the reason why the computer wasnt even starting up, one of the wires came loose that was hooked up to the startup switch on the powersupply, so i got it to start. But the computer doesnt beep, and there is no display on the screen. I have seen this problem posted before about the biostars and some opus/biostar fix. But first im going to try re-seating everything again. Today i popped out the cmos battery and the memory and then put them back in after about 10 minutes. If anyone else has any suggestions, please feal free to chime in. thanks again.

Do this and use a differnt powersuply. Can be a lot of things.

Disconnect everything, pull the battery switch it on, now bios should be reset.
use a normal powersupply and add mem and screen,
switch on stil no screen. Than try differnt mem., etc..
