The PC technically isnt off - its just booting to a instant-on OS, linux most probably. So instead of waiting for Windows to boot up you can just play CDs off the quick boot linux.

so it's on a built in flash? , and how can controls buttons work (play/pause/forward,etc)?

It will be built into the ROM yeah.

Buttons are on the front of the unit I assume? They will just work as usual.. Your device is still powered on.

Just think of it as isntead of running Windows that takes ages to boot - its running a different OS that only takes a few seconds.
