My setup is rather large when it comes to USB and serial devices. I am using a IEI KINO 690S1 with a AMD Turion 64 x2 1.8ghz processor and 2 gb off 667 RAM. I am using all USB and currently have one 7 port hub (which is full) and a 4 port hub. The Mobo has 8 USB ports, and 4 serial ports. I am using all serial ports and 6 of the USB port, the last 2 are for thumb drives and game pads. I did have a 3 port PCI Belkin USB card, but it was giving my PC issues and I had to take it out. Only reason I had the card in is because my SoundBlaster Live would not work in 24 bit mode unless it was on its own card. I am now considering scaling down to only the onboard USB ports, but the SB Live will not allow me to go into 24 bit mode, in fact the option is missing altogether. Also when I had the PCI USB card, if i use HD Radio (have it plugged in) then go into CF, I get a warning that says the SB Live is now switching to 16bit mode do to bandwidth issues. I am assuming that the PCI slot and serial ports share bandwidth because if i leave HD unplugged and go into CF, i do not get the warning.
All in all I need the SoundBlaster to be able to play in 24 bit mode. i installed a PC in the car so it could be high quality and put most OEM systems to shame. I also have a PCIe x1 slot, do you think I will have the bandwidth issues if i use a PCIe USB Card?
