Thread: Legacy, Pyramid, etc. amps?

King_Xerxes: I also had my top-of-the-line pioneer HU stole on saturday night... Anyway, i've gota cheap boss audio "600W" 4-channel amp, and it sounds surprisingly good, but it no way puts out 600W rms. I'd guess around 300w rms on this thing, but that plenty for my setup on the trunk/boot.

I'm not gonna bother gettin another HU tho, i`m gonna wire my mp3player straight to my amp. I`ve still got to power my from speakers, however, so can anyone recommend a cheap 4 chan amp that outputs around 30w rms per channel, but has nice sound quality?

I don't mean to drag this off topic, i`m also very interesed in any good theft protection stuff i can do, as i really hate having my stuff nicked as much as anyone.

Well, if you search around, theres been alot of talk to anti-theft systems lately (mostly in the thread about ddt's car). Theres a film you apply or have applied which will make your windows unbreakable by standard things (fists, metal tools, etc), and its not too much $$$. The link is in the other thread.

I second the JBL amps... I don't own one, yet... but once i get some cashed saved up I am looking to get the JBL 600.1. From what I understand they are actually under-rated meaning they put out more power than it says.

Just thought this would help... oh yeah and check out http://www.ikesound.com for a good price. I posted on another forum ( http://www.s-seriesforum.com ) asking about a good sub/amp combination and one of the guys over there recommended the JBL 600.1 and Alpine type R, and said to check out Ike Sound. He has done business with them and say they are reliable... and the prices on the 600.1 and type R are comparible or cheaper than eBay.

Hope you get some new stuff and make it harder for them to get in next time... I can't stand theives, luckily mine hasn't gotten jacked yet, but I am afraid my time will come, so I am also hoping to hear of some good security stuff. (there has been a lot of discussing... hope it keeps up!)

yup.

if you're working at your desk on a nice hot day and have the window open...and your papers are all blowing off your desk...gently place this amp on the papers... it will keep them from blowing to the floor!!

I have two Crunch Drive V amps. I got them on a close out sale on Sounddomain.com about two years ago. I got a 600W 4CH for $179 and a 150W 2Ch. for $79. Granted, they're not the best amps in the world but they had good specs for the money. I'm runnin' Infinity kappa speakers all around including a 10" Kappa Sub pushed by the 2ch bridged mono to 250W. Everyone who listens, including sound nuts, say it's one of the clearest sounding setups they've ever heard even when cranked up.

You can try buying the first generation MTX thunder2300 on ebay. It shouldnt be more than $160http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=18796
I've had one before. It actually puts out 1217 watts max when I bench tested it. This amp is better than the 2300X because when they made this amp, roughly only 5% of the HU were high voltage preout, so the gain control on this amp was setup to take HU with .1volt- 2 volt preouts. hook this amp up to a deck with 4 to 8 volt preout and it'll put out 4 times it's rated power. The 2300X were adjusted for the high voltage preout decks so the 2300X is not as powerful as the original 2300. Not by much though. I've tested a 2300X and it did 1097 watts max. Hope this helps.
