we should start an mp3car insurance fund.. the fund would be put towards getting a guy started on his project again and towards hunting down and castrating the guy who steal 'em.

mp3car system is currently FUBAR and finances do not allow for a correction of that situation
Real computer hackers use a rotary cutting tool on their motherboard.

I've always wanted one too. I can tell the the people in front of me to quit riding on his brakes or turn off the blinkers or turn on the lights at night or fix the headlight or tail lights or fix their flat or get their tires balanced so it doesnt look like its gonna fly off and kill somebody.

NO!! I dont want him to register on this board. We're all friendly people who are eager to help. I don't wanna help someone who needs help on some schit he stoled and not knowing that he stold the schit. Let him figure it out. If he cant figure it out, then he shouldnt have stolen it in the first place.

I don't like that feature. I don't think I'm gonna install that in my setup

OK,this thread shows me that a computer can do a lot.
Untill now, i was just thinking on ; GPS, play movies, (music, mp3, cd i play on my radio), and park easier.(i m thinking of building web-csam into my bumper so i can see how much place i've got when i'm parking.) and maybe it is also handy, when you have an accident to take a screenshot so you have the car his numberplate ?

I really like the idea of say, 2 usb video cameras, one by the licance plate (backing up) and one on the right hand side (how close am I to the curb) I already scratched my rims once... that really sucked, these nice chrome rims have a scratch in them now... and usb-web-cams are really really cheap.

Right now, my (uninstalled) computer has the following functionality...
The datalux sits next to the opus to keep it from moving around when I open the drawer of the file cabinit they both sit in. the EPIA mobo represents a "must lose" priority with the post office, as it is in the mail.

    cpro,
are you ripping the dvd's into divx format? ... or are you using some type of "virtual" drive program to store the dvd's on your HD?!?

sorry i don't know much about ripping dvd's , yet.

I was thinking about using a "virtual drive" prgram, if I could maybe store like 6 dvd's on my HD and still be able to play them like they were in my actual dvd rom drive ...(having menu selections, and chapters, etc)

I know it works for games..dvd's i'm not sure of, guess i'll have to check it out...

No, I dont rip DVDs into DivX. It would take 8 hours to convert a 90 minute movie at 4-5fps with my autopc. No, I don't use any type of virtual drive program either. I rip all the DVD files: VOB, IFO, BUP. PowerDVD XP let's you play DVD movies with menus off of HD but it has to be decoded and converted to region 0 first. It takes about 15-30 minutes to rip the whole DVD. After that, you can play it just like a real DVD.

The usual mp3/gps/video/game emulator stuff, with touchscreen, plus wireless internet access (works at freeway speeds too) via my Treo 300 phone (downloads at about 8K/sec).

Which means I can web browse or troubleshoot servers from my computer (or my phone itself, which has a built-in ssh2 client.. woo).
