Shopping for SSD, any particular brands?

I started to have major issues with both CF and data when coming out of hibernation. Basically the PC will freeze and when I restart and ask for a system report, Microsoft tells me that the hard drive is loosing data and is causing a serious system error. It tells me that its just a one time thing (this is my 20th though) or the HDD is failing. I think its the later. I plan to still keep a HDD, but Windows and all programs will go on a SSD. I have to much media and music, and dont have the money to buy a huge capacity SSD drive. What SSD drives do you recommend? Geeze, it seems like I am having to replace everything in my install! Maybe its because my HDD is on a extended SATA cable, there is about 36 inches of cabling between the PC and HDD?

ALSO, I am reading that if I am using the SSD drive for an OS, I should get a SLC based SSD, rather then a MLC, is this accurate?

I have been using an OCZ 30GB SSD since December and it has been great. Super fast hibernation resume and even cold boots. I had to condense my music collection for it to fit on there though. I am planning on buying another 60/64GB SSD that will be dedicated to music/video - that will be enough to hold it all.

But so far OCZ has been great for me!

Thats is also the one that Mo-Co-So sells. I am so keep seeing one that is called Patriot Warp, alot of people have given it great reviews. I dont mind putting music on the HDD, because if the drive craps out, I have a backup image.

The only SSDs with performance faster than a regular HDD are the new Intel drives that came out end of 08. The X-25 E and M. They are branded by some other vendors as well but Intel makes them. Kingston maybe is one of the resellers?

Anyways, if you are in the market for an SSD, that is the way to go for sure.

Sorry but OCZ have big problems with I/O(Same new Vertex) with small files... Intel is a lot of faster but have problems with controller if you fill it for more than 80%...

i'm in the process of putting mine together and I would like to do ssd but i was leaning towards one of the ocz drives for os and apps and another drive for just media (music, video, photos)

Care to elaborate? I don't mean that in a mean way at all, I am just interested.

And yes, the Intel SSDs are certainly better drives - that's a no brainer. I only went with OCZ for the price tag

And so far I am not experiencing any problems.

From what I understand alot of SSD drives have the small file read issue. They say that turning off certain features in Windows will correct these issues.
