What is the point of a front end?

More specifically, why can't I just boot into Fedora 10 and run everything from there?

This is probably a stupid question...

You can, but fedora 10 as it sits is not very touchscreen friendly. a frontend allows you to have a nice easy touch friendly interface to your computer, media, gps, anything/everything you want. Ever tried to use a computer while driving? Trust me when I say, don't. It's a good way to get killed. While still dangerous to operate while moving, a frontend makes it slightly safer too.

Btw, if you're looking into linux check out nGhost

Yep! It is. check out their subforum at http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/linuxice/

LinuxICE is a compact fast distro of linux that runs nGhost, but nGhost itself will run on almost any distro.
