Well thats what exactly is going to happen, soon a big manufacturer is going to take the plunge when they feel theres enough interest. All the technolgy is there but they simply wont commit not until they feels its the right time.

So if there is such a unit available where does the majority of these hobbyist goes? they will of course follow whats available.

Like what the OP said, he doesnt have time to play with carpc anymore, there is a HU that does all what he wanted. Why waste time on something thats does not benefit him when he could have spent his time else where.

Some might mould the screen on their dash, call that a hobby I dont know LOL, I call it fitting a unit. Play with the skins? I call that changing the appearance setting.

Im sure the hardcores will find a way to give themselves problems, solve it, spend alot of time and effort. Then it goes back in the drawer once its all done. Thats a typical life cycle of a home made gadget.

One of which is to use small handheld devices, and one of which is to do a full-on computer. Personally I could never go with a tiny hand held device like the iphone. It's just not moddable enough, functional enough, or have a large enough screen for me.
That post was for bugbyte, written by him.

I have no problem what you do with your time or what you want to put in your car.

I was merely stating why some people gives up such as the OP, a change hobby, find a GF or spend their time better else where, that is all really. Im sure bill gate is not spending his time trying to get his latest carpc installed. I think hes better off spending his time making money and enjoying it.

If you feel you can go on for another 20 years trying to install a carpc, well, I dont know, its not really up for me to decide what you do with your time.

I hope 20 years would be enough for hardcores to realise it?

That was me, and if you read the description of it, it is for your negative attitude towards the hobby in general. Your opinion is not necessarily truth, it may be to you but it is not to others. Getting a bad attitude about it is no way to entertain discussion about it. If you do not like the idea of other people contradicting your ideas, then perhaps you should not post in online forums?

People should be realistic with their goals and can see ahead of the future.

I hate people promoting it like its something anyone can do it and it be their life time interest, its clearly isnt so. A more honest view what carpc is all about is more beneficial to the whole community.

I stated my reasoning why "some" people bail out of this never ending hobby. I understand them why and I said so why, thats my opinion and you have yours.

If you do decide to take this hobby further well thats up to you. Last time I checked Im not stopping anyone.

All Im saying is people give up for various reason, they have their own reason. And im sure you have your own reason to carry on too.

You see where it all went wrong?

Someone claimed he can have 700 more features than a HU and it be as stable. How I dont know, like he have some labs, funds and R&D team bigger than kenwood. I dont think he can even code or design hardware. This is simply buying and putting things together, assembling things together is hardly called a hobby, and then reckon it be a top end HU killer LOL.

Now thats a very confident claims.

And sadly you backed it up, I would have though you knew better being in the carpc hobby for 10 years.

Once again, like the purpose of the hobby, you have misunderstood my argument. I don't see any more point in this, so I'll leave it be.

THAT AIN'T RIGHT! He just got a different opinion. Bad reps should first be reviewed by admin or moderators. That's retaliation 'cause he refuse to back-down. They should eliminate them reps again!

Well thats how some people are, I probably would have been banned by now of he had the power to do so, not that I care much though.

He had his opinion and I had mine. Im sure there are many who didnt quite make this in search for the perfect carpc. They start the project, install it, find its more hassle than what its worth, then sell it on and just buy a HU that does what they need and move on. The op is not alone in doing this.
