Just a shame I can't justify a carpc to use it on anymore.

Yeah, I was using an inverter + normal desktop PSU. Even with everything grounded well, I still got a whine at low RPM.

    Thumbs up

I have had various grounding issues but all resolved thanks to you guys.

    My Setup:
Toshiba satellite 2410 laptop (XP SP2)
    Riderunner frontend
    LILO Classic III DAC
    Kicker KQ9 Crossover/Equalizer
4 Channel Amp to drive mid range and tweeters (Front + Back)
D Class Sub Amp + 12 inch dual voice coil sub
    Custom power module (DC-DC)

    1. Humming noise when playing audio
Sol: Replaced cheap interconnects with branded shielded cables from DAC to Amps. Issue resolved.

    2. Noise in screen
Sol: Grounded laptop chassis and noise is completely gone.

Grounding everything to the same point and good quality shielded RCA cables really made a difference for my setup
