The "instant boot" feature on these and some MSI boards is basically an embedded OS in flash on the motherboard. It'll boot in 1-2seconds to a minimal OS that can browse the internet.
The solution for fast boot on carPCs is LinuxICE.
is this motherboard the answer we all need for our booting times on our carpc?
Anyone in here knows anything about these instant boot feature ?

theyre all wrong.
asrock instant boot is a feature that runs a script in windows and is tied with the bios to have a clean boot every time instantly when you start up.
it works in a mickey mouse way though. when its enabled, first it shutsdown the pc... then it starts back up, loads into windows, then goes into a sleep state where everything is off, but the clean booted session is saved.
so, whenever you go back to turn the pc on, it will pop onto a working desktop in about 3 seconds- no waiting for anything and its a clean boot. in theory its a nice feature becuase you dont have to wait for fresh startups, but shutdown times increase to 1.5minutes or more and i never found a good enough reason to use it on my g31 motherboard. i think windows sleep and hibernate settings work just fine these days...
that's what I said...unnecessary in a carpc
