Thread: should i avoid windows 7 64 bit?

    Yeah, I can imagine apps someday that require so much memory that they won't run on 3GB physical, so they drop the 32 bit versions, then no 32 bit Windows, too much hassle to support both and so on...

    the computer industry is far beyond your ideas. they arent waiting for 32bit to be maximized, it has already been confirmed that the next version of windows will be 64bit only, and intel is taking a lot of heat from various companies for making the 32bit atom and putting it into the mainstream.

    microsoft didnt even have a desire to make windows 7 32bit, they were forced to though after vista was viewed so poorly by the public and XP users refused to upgrade to vista.

    also, all new computers in retail stores are shipping 64bit lnstalled now. actually have been for around a year....
