Converting 2000 Tahoe Cassette deck to Mp3 player connection

I have a 2000 Tahoe with Cd player and tape deck non Bose system. The vehicle has OnStar but I don't use it. I Would like to remove the factory Cassette player and wire in a USB connector to the factory wiring. Is there a way to wire it directly to the cassette audio inputs ?
I wouldn't be opposed to wiring a headphone jack right to the factory wiring, but would prefer to use USB.

    An inexpensive method:

Take a cassette adapter like this and hack it so the wire runs out the back of the headunit.
Connect whatever you want to the headphone jack (RCA inputs, an iPod, etc.)

If you want to listen to the audio source connected to it, just select the cassette player on your headunit.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?
    How about the Wiki?

Under normal circumstances, a signature would go here.
