I've worked at more than one company whose p.o.'s were just the persons initials and a date and then an a,b,c,etc or 1,2,3 at the end if there were multiple orders in one day.
Ok here is the situation, I am trying to follow suit of some people on this forum. I am trying to "act" like a business to order a "sample". Well just being a teacher and not to business minded, they asked for a "Purchase order". So what should I give him? How do I do this?
Thanks for any tricky advice!

the PO number is just simply for your "records". They only do this so that in case your "company" has a policy to not accept anything ordered without a PO. Honestly where I used to work we would always say "just use the date" and no questions were ever asked.

NO, NO, NO, I am not abusing "Free" Samples, I'm paying for them. But instead of buying 2000 in bulk, I would like to try their product out first....Originally posted by bgoodman

I had to ask for a sample because the part wasn't available anywhere else. Half the popular maxim chips are that way, digi-key and mouser don't carry them.
