1997 Blazer wiring
I'm looking at getting a 1997 Blazer for a winter vehicle. If I do, I'll be installing my second CarPC in it. First question before I go buy it though, is there a wiring harness that will replace the stareo and allow for a simple R and L rca audio connection direct to the speaker system without a modulator or keeping the crappy AM/FM/Cassette radio?
no. unless the blazer has a factory audio amp, that has low level inputs, you need a amp. the audio output level of all computers is too low to power speakers at any more then a very quiet whisper..
is there a way to find out if it has a factory amp without going to a dealer to have the vin decoded? it's a 1997 Chevy Blazer LS with the stock radio. Speakers need replacing anyways so open to suggestions.
according to crutchfield, the 97 was never offered with a amp-- so you will need a amp of some sort.
for speakers, try before you buy.
seriously, go to a car audio shop, take some of your favorite songs on a cd, and try different speakers to find what works best with what you like to hear. and if they don't allow you to try it with your own music, don't waste your time there..
i will not give specific speaker recommendations because every speaker sounds different, and everyone expects something different from a audio system.
audio taken care of with a 400w 2/3/4 channel Jensen amp.
next stupid question:
does the center console remove? be an excellent way to run the wiring half way to the reat seat for the pc if it does.
sorry, not going to be able to help too much with that one-- most remove with screws near the bottom-- if it is anything like my families 99 suburban, the screws are all the way in the bottom, and you got to remove all the stuff out of it..
97 blazer does not have an amplifier built in...i have the exact same vehicle and have mine running with a 300/4 jl and a 250/1\...check out my install...if you have any more questions feel free to ask me
oh and by the way the center console does remove but it is very complicated and tedious...may not be something you want to try unless you have another vehicle to drive for a few days
i've got my 98 cadillac sts i can drive.
i'll remove the console tomorrow.
external case for a slim-line sata optical drive.
anything but syba or connectland as they don't support any drives made post-2008.
