Sound stuttering and Hibernation issues
Hello everybody! I've been having some problems and was hoping someone might know what's going on. For the last few weeks I've noticed that my music will occasionally stutter for a few second. It's hardly noticeable but I've had the setup for a while now and this just started happening so I'm wondering if this may be a sign of something that needs to be fixed (well, obviously it does).
Also for the last week or so I've noticed that the computer will not turn itself off after going into hibernation. It will go through the "saving your settings" screen and at the time when it's supposed to turn off, it just sits there with a black screen but the computer is still on. I just noticed this but it's has probably been happening off and on as I have noticed for a while that when I turn my car on in the morning my computer will boot as if I had turned it off instead of hibernating. Looks like my power supply cut the power when the battery got too low.
Most of the things I've read say that the latter problem is usually caused by a bad driver or recently installed software, but I have not installed anything in a while and it was working fine for a long time, so I'm thinking it sounds more hardware related. However, one thing that makes me think it still may be that a driver somewhere got corrupted is that my blue tooth gives me an error when starting up, but I never use it so I turned it off but I am still having these problems. It's possible that something else got corrupted too, but given the stuttering audio problem in addition to the hibernation problem, hardware seems more likely (to me at least).
Here is my worklog for details about my build, but I have the following setup:
2 GIGS Ram
Laptop HDD (I forget the model)
Windows XP SP2
Ok forum, work your magic! Any thoughts would be most appreciated.
