Well, the title is not strictly true. I've got my hands on a SSD (for the OS) and want to keep my HDD (for the media files). Has anyone put a HDD, or SSD, where the CD/DVD would be? and got any pics? or remembers an install like it?
Cheers,
Dave

Can anyone help me on this (SSD due to be delivered today :))

I think you could get away with duct taping the SSD into the cd drive position, if you can't find an adapter that would work.
I tried a few ways to place it where the cd drive position is, but no go. I wound up using double sided tape and taping the SSD to the top of the standard hard drive.
Finally, I ended with buying a new case. :)
What I did was replace my 500gb drive with a 60gb ssd. I then got an external 2.5 usb enclosure and put the 500gb in it. It only requires the mini usb to connect. I then keep that either up at the front under the dash, or behind the rear seat. That way if I want to update the music, videos, or anything else I just bring it into the house.
I recommend truecrypt for encrypting both drives.
Thanks mate. I was thinking about this method too. Is the media access seemless i.e. music and videoplayback without stutters? Without checking I'm not sure what difference the data transfer speeds are between the two protocols
As above, not really sure I need to encrypt but will have a little look anyways......
