trailblazer - got the runaround with wiring, looking for quick solution please

My buddy has an 2005 or 2006 trailblazer. He wanted to stream from his ipod and was looking at a new cd player anyways. We went to our local store, best (aka worst) buy and looked around. I asked for a wiring harness since I could do all the rest of it myself. The worker than told me that certain chevy's (or just trailblazers I can't remember) during certain years take special wiring (or it causes electrical problems) and he said it would run $250+ for just a wiring kit ...

Anyways, since I knew this had to be unreal and didn't quite want to argue or anything (and no other local shops open), my buddy picked up a wire, it's got an ipod connector on one end, a cig charger on the other end, and streams through fm frequencys. It's been alright but never worked 'great'. Now, since he has an android phone, he wants to stream pandora.

After the initial convo from best buy way earlier in the year, I didn't feel like going through and trying to find a new cd player/wire harness. So here I am...

I know some cd players allow an extra thing or wire, that allows an aux connection to the stock cd player. I can't remember the name, so if whatever it is could be named I can see if that's an option for him. If not, is there an 'fm streamer' of sorts for a normal 1/8 headphone jack so he could stream from his phone?

that box the best buy person was talking about is the relay box.

for a while(i don't know the exact years, or models it includes) chevy has decided it would be a brilliant idea to put all the door chime, seat belt warnings, and other chime features into the head unit. so if you yank the hu, you loose those features--personally, it would bother me, but not $200 worth of botherment... i would install a diff hu, and deal w/o the chimes. the module he was talking about keeps these features--and is not cheap.

there are plenty of aux input adapters that can plug into a headphone jack.

the best would be a hardwired model, though with the truck being a gm you would also need a gm-to standard, and standard to gm antenna adapter..

i have used a model like this in the past-- it works, but no better then any other wireless model i have tried..

this is the hardwired version. this will work better becuase it disables the radio antenna while the box is on, but the trouble is that your working on a gm truck-- with the mini-motorola style connectors. this uses standard sized motorola connectors.

Thanks for the explanation, I guess the guy was at least partly right in what he told me.

The first wireless one looks like the one has, only with the ipod connector instead of 1/8 connector. The one he had from best buy was like $50ish I think so I thought it would be somewhat decent, but that's probably for them using the ipod connection in the first place. I think I might recommend him the wireless one, at least we won't have to worry about the chevy stuff they put in all those connections then anyways. Thanks again for recommendations and your knowledge!
