Thread: amps???

Depends on your wallet.

The BEST? I would consider Zapco to be up there. Memphis Audio, makers of the Memphis Belle are great to. I myself am going to be using Phoenix Gold. It's really a question of application. Some amps are better for sound quality, some are better for straight power.

JL Audio for mids and highs. I got a 300/2

Before my amps and head unit were stolen from the dealship. I had an Orion xtr275 pushing 2 MB Quart 6 1/2 two ways and Polk 6 1/2 Running in parallel dropping it to 2 Ohm. I then got a punch 401s it sucked could'nt handle the 2 Ohm load return it got an autotek 2150 returned it didn't have enough power. So I said screw it and got the JL altough I had to dish out an extra 110 bucks it was well worth it. Of course you will have to get some decent speakers as well to get good sound reproduction.

I will have to say that JL is on another level compared to most. I would agree with Skip Phoenix Gold would be a good choice as well. I was looking into those as well but the place did not carry PG.

if you asked this question to 10 people, u would get 10 different answers...

you need to define what you are trying to achieve with your audio setup...
asking what is the best is a crap-shoot... at best.

so, what *are* you trying to achieve... and equally as important is how much do you want to spend on the amps? on the speakers?
