Thread: Mounting CarPC to Sub box.. Bad idea?

yes i feel that is not a good idea at all

as long as it is solidly mounted to the box, i don't think it should be too much of a issue. the box it-self doesn't shake much. and if it does, you need a better box..

in my personal experience ,depends on how much bass is being output.
ive had two motherboards go bad cuz the bass rattled the cpu sockets loose,
now i never bolt a pc to any of my sub boxez

you are completely right. if your running a ....mild system,then yo might be ok, but if you are running real bass, then i would say not, cause even some of the best built boxes still flex and vibrate alot.

Have done it in several installs, for years, and had no issues.

i always recommend against mounting amps...same goes for car pc..... don't know what the long term affect of the vibrations will have on the internal electrical components of both pc and amps.

So does this mean that the home theater world for many years, is all wrong in their amp/woof designs?

a PC has "removable" components. which can easily shift with the right amount of vibration.

excessive vibration over a period of time is the enemy here.

i may have purchased pc components that may not be as "vibration Resistant" as to ones you have. thus based on MY experience, i would not recommend putting a pc on the back of a subwoofer that can rattle one's car to pieces

Home theate systems are discern cause the bass produced by them is minimal compared to what people have on there cars
