Basic Stamp interfacing

I was just wondering if anyone out there uses BASIC Stamp's for anthing.

Im not into programing anymore, but Im being motivated to learn VB6 to interface this new device

These things are really cool, they provide a cost efective way to comunicate between the pc and other electrical devices. you could add a lot of functionality to your carputer using one of these - pc control for the A/C , windows , door locks, add enough sensors , and maby it could drive http://www.mp3car.com/ubb/smile.gif

Anyone out there interfacing basic stamps with there rig ?

am considering microcontrollers to controll extra injectors and alter the ignition curve on a supercharged vehicle. Not into the programming side of things, that is a friends job http://www.mp3car.com/ubb/redface.gif) But they do seem to be brilliant little devices. For the A/C Why not use it as a stand alone device?

AusseyGuy: Have you considered an aftermarket fuel system? It will do more then simply control fuel and ignition curves, and will come with a warrenty and good instructions. Some that I have seen in the past are the Wolf3D, Apexi Super AFC, Haltech, etc.

Well I looked at the aftermarket computers, but they are so overpriced here in oz it isn't funny. Basically to run a supercharger you only ned to retard the spark a bit and introduce a bit more fuel. Since a microcontroller (stamp) is only around $100 au compared to $1000 au for a computer you can see which way I am going to go.
p.s. I will be using 3D mapping in the stamp as well.

I see. You can add more fuel by simply running larger injectors and more pressure, and I believe MSD makes some ignition boxes that will adjust timing when you come on boost...Just a thought...

I'm going to be using a Basic Stamp in my '77 Bug. The Stamp is perfect for the job, since it consumes so little current that it can be run off of the car's battery for months without the car being on. I'm going to be using it to control the graphical VFD display (see http://www.controlanything.com ), independent climate control, motorized panels, etc. It should be one hell of a system.
