    is car computing dead?

I just got a new car and am planning my next install so i've been revisiting the forums lately. I've noticed the drastic lack of posts now compared to... 4 years ago. is the hobby going the way of the cassette deck?

It has slowed down but I think mainly most systems work pretty good now. Power supplies are abundant, radio solutions are available, engine monitoring the choice is endless, a common solution for Tire pressure monitoring, parking distance. Numerous input/output devices. At least 3 mature frontend choices. The old days people were looking for solutions. Now just buy what you need and install. It all depends on your needs. I have tried dozens of tablets, windows and android and for me I need a full PC. Just my 2 cents SNO

If you have not been around for a while but had a working system in your car (until now with the change of cars), you are a perfect example of what SNO is talking about. I'm sure with the advance of HU's, phone storage & connectivity, etc, there is some fall but likely not as bad as it appears by the activity here.

BTW, I'm anxious to see what you have planned!

    Thanks phil,

i haven't been active/around for a while because i sold the car with the computer and got a not so mod friendly Porsche Cayenne... so i've been in the dark.

the new venture should be a good one. I think it'll be a bit outside the box.... and a bit in the box as well. I have about 3 months to plan it while the car is getting paint and body work.

I see it more as vinyl. For some it never died. And its modern use is on the increase.

    Just my 1 cent.

My systems have been ~~~"stable" for the last 4 years so there's not much to talk about. I check in often but you're right the post count is way down now that the front-ends and add-ons are stable.
