    cd to speakers question

Hi, I am a car stereo newbie, and i am wondering how I could get my music from my portable cd player to my car speakers.
I own a ford mercury with the factory radio which only has a radio, no tapedeck, no cd, and no aux in.
I am wondering if it is possible to hook the cd player directly to the wires in the back of the car radio.
For example, I have a headphone wire that delivers sound for the left and the right speakers, can i hook that up directly to the speakers in the back of the stereo? if i do that, would i have a problem with the volume?

    Thanks for your time.

No, it won't have enough power to drive the speakers. Buy an fm modulator.

google it or search here for fm modulator

I dont know hobbit dude. I think the portcd will power the speakers but the volume would be so low it wouldnt be worth it. If you want my 2cents get a new deck unit and save a tree holmes

man forget the portable CD player.. stick a computer in that dash! Isn't that what we're all about? hehehe but yea, fm modulator is the quicker, easier, *much more affordable* way.

    hehe, I see,
I thought that we might be able to amplify the sound by sticking a couple of transistors in to double or tripple the voltage, but I am guessing that the amplification of the sound does not happen by doubling the voltage.

    Thanks guys
