Hi all. Im from Sutton in Surrey too! (Aquanuke - small world, eh? Russ - you're not far from me. My last car was an s14) Drive a "tweaked" ( ) e36 328 coupe and am hoping to install a carputer in the not so distant future. I'll be badgering you all for info no doubt. TBH i can't believe it's all as easy as it seems..... and pretty damn cheap too, considering the possibilities.

Am looking for a revolving DIN-sized touchscreen monitor, with a fast processor, at least a gb of ddr, absolute MINIMUM 80gb HDD (pref much more), with many expandability options as possible. Im flicking through various sites doing my own research at the moment (this site is absolutely spot on though ) but any specific advice, hints or tips would be MORE than welcome

    Cheers, Jim

I'm from County Durham, my main runabout is a Supra Twin Turbo (along with a mk1 Escort rally car, a Lotus 7 replica... ).

I previously had an Xbox running Linux, setup in the car (you'll find if you search on google, I was the first person to do this [been on slashdot, numerous tech sites, and in Edge magazine!]) ...

but the Xbrick is now gone - too big, bulky and used too much power...

I'm about to fit an Espresso mini PC (900MHz C3, 256Mb, 40Gb, USB Wireless), which is much neater, along with Frodoplayer (Toyota brushed metal skin, naturally!) on WinXP as the interface. Everything is complete, I just need to spend a weekend taking the old A/V and satnav system out of the car, and replace it with my new Pioneer kit and speakers (Infinity Reference components).
