Apart from MikeH and Rob, there definatley appears to be a northern them to things here in the UK. And that is very odd.

indeed... i think a decent sized meet up could well be possible?
Be interesting to see others peoples install and compare in real-life. All I see at the moment is pics on the internet which doesn't really give the work its full justice.

Well a meet up sounds good and yes it doe seem to be a northern thing dunit ?
I want to get my System in which will be as soon as my Opus is here.... then can start work on the car
want it ready for some shows next year... any way I digress.
As soon as have done this I'll be up for a meet some where....
As this thread is getting a little off track I have just started this one ( 1st UK MP3car / Carpc Meet ? ) for all those intrested in a meet.
Personally I am well up for it how ever I susspect it may have a northern location... we'll see.

Hey guys
I'm new here, found these forums from link to MediaEngine in ccsnet's site which i found from a link ccsnet posted in GPSW forums in a thread about InfoMap Navigator. (Phew, what a mouthful that was!)
I've had a carputer for a couple of years, but was only basic, now am expanding it, in preparation for putting into my next car
It will soon be:
Location : Loughton, Essex
System Base : Epia M-10000, 40gb 7200rpm HDD, USB GPS mouse
State of play : Acquiring parts
Comments : Follow your nose
Car : Mk5 Ford Escort
System size : Who knows at the moment!
Consumption : Uhm, pass!
Software : Win XP, ME (hopefully v2 soon!) + whatever (MapPoint, or some other GPS Nav program)
This will be the "test vehicle" for the final installation which will be going into my next car, which is a 1967 Ford Anglia 105E. The interior on that will be custom made around a carputer, so that everything will "fit"
Currently the only thing i'm really looking for is a (cheap) 6-8" Touchscreen TFT, if any of you have anything going, let me know!
I'd definately be up for a meetup somewhere once i get the system up and running in my Escort (the Anglia will be in 6-12 months at least), will be a good chance to let the GPS navigation do it's job!

Tell you what, a Nice Anglebox, with a decent engine, box, and brakes/shockers etc (probably either two litre ford based, or Fiat/Lancia based), pretty period looking outside, but with a hi-tech interior and tinted windows would look the absolute nits.
With Maybe Golf 4 Leather seats used front and back,If the car is wide enough.

Good to see someone else knows the "slang" name for them!
A lot of people are "You what?" then I have to say "the 'Harry Potter' car" before they realise what I'm on about!
I'm going for 1600 (or bigger?) x-flow, 5spd sierra box, and suspension/steering etc from a Mk2 Escort.
The interior is pretty bad, which will give me a brilliant chance to make it nice and high-tech
I will have to look and see if I can find some dimensions for the Golf 4 seats, see whether they will fit
