    Post fiberglass

    hey,
im planning on putting my 8.4 lcd in the center pillar(by your feet) of the dashboard. but in order to keep it looking nice, im probably going to have to buy a junkyard piece, cut it up, and fiberglass the openings i need.

so the question i want to post is this: does anyone know of a good beginners guide, or online guide, or such on the topic of fiberglassing. kinda an overview of what to use and what everything does. let me know whats out there. thanks

Im currious as to this as well. Who has made their own vs getting a shop to do it? If you had it done by a shop, was it your local car audio specialist? if you had it done for you, how much did it cost?

Hi, I would suggest to just try it, just get some fiberglass uhmm... uhmmm.. don't the english word.. sheets? dunno, I hope you know what I mean.. and some resin & harder and just sculpt something.

I have only used the stuff to repair my boat but it's fairly simple. If something doesn't turn out the way you like it just use uhmmm... "plamuur" uhmmm... (the stuff that looks & feels like putty) and correct it.

What you might wanna do is place a piece of plastic bag over the shape you're going for and simply start placing the sheets over this, when you're finished you'll have a piece of plastic sticking to your fiberglass just sand it off or leave it...

BTW make shure the fiberglass is transparant when you've put the resin on it. If it isn't use more resin...
If at first you don't succeed.........
    destroy all evidence you tried

There has been alot of discussion on this board about that. My advice... Put the underused search function to use. This should get you started.
