yes... aiwa is crap IMHO. i worked at best buy for most of high school, and the audio products most returned were aiwa systems... always had problems with cds getting stuck or the power supplies dying... always. i know nothing of their customer support, but that sucks to hear about the rebate...

It's my understanding that Aiwa is Sony's low-end product division. I made the mistake of purchasing an Aiwa surround sound system at one point... in summary, it was crap.

I didn't really think we needed to state this as I took it as common knowledge...

Yep - Aiwa never used to be owned by Sony years ago though. They used to be a fairly high end brand, but then they went south economically and never exported to North America anymore. Sony bought them out and has started shipping Aiwa products to America again as their low end brand.

This had a lot of old Aiwa buyers confused and ****ed off

My dad's got a Aiwa home stereo, probably about 15 years old, very good condition and sound quality still

However, most new stuff I've seen/heard is crap

My home stereo system, a small one, is about 4 years old and its dying.. It stoped playing most CD's, very selective.. So I don't use it anymore, I use my computer system for MP3's now, as its LOUDER and smaller!
