see, you just don't know what you are talking about. 15kscsi drives exist. I don't get what your problem is.

Somebody else want to explain that 15 RPM drives aren't particularly on the cutting edge, not even on the edge really...

I was going to point out the typo but I decided to let it slide.

I don't know what you did to get everyone so upset DinoBite, I appreciate the information you shared, I personally am always interested in new technology, whether new products, prototypes, Theories, or even just idea's. So at least you get one positive reply! Thanks

Right. What did I blab that was incorrect? Nothing.
well, your insightful comment regarding the typo involving the period instead of comma was missed. So essentially you made a useless comment. thanks for sharing with us.

As for research, I don't see how you can make that accusation towards me, since you didn't know a single thing about this ramdrive and showed your ignorance throughout this thread. I mean really, its all right here in the thread, if you go back you'll see that you were wrong, and if you could perhaps get over yourself and whatever B.S. geek superiority complex you have.
I'll admit when I am wrong, but you seem to be the kind of person who thinks they know everything and won't ever admit to being wrong.
But you don't have to admit it, anyone can see clearly in this thread that you were wrong. I don't really care if you are wrong or not, but all I'm doing is sharing stuff that I have found that I think is relevant to building a better car PC and you got on my case.
I'm familiar with how forums work and everything, and I know how people can be, and I know the dynamics of member interaction. I'm used to seeing some immaturity but I really didn't expect to see it in a forum like this. So please just give it a rest, I'm not against you or anything. Just relax, you know? Really.

And thanks a lot MeanGT! I'm really just trying to be nice! I swear.

First of all, I didn't write that.

As for research, I don't see how you can make that accusation towards me, since you didn't know a single thing about this ramdrive and showed your ignorance throughout this thread.
I knew about the Cenatek drive, hell I looked into buying one for work. As for you, quoting or not you said:

...Super-BIOS™ (IBPT) and PuRam™ Technology... personal computer configurable WITHOUT a System Hard Drive with all operating system and program files permanently sitting a on a Flash RamDisk. It operates at the speed of the maximum available memory bandwidth up to 8.0GB/s and is capable of over 150,000 I/O requests per second, with an average of 0.0% CPU utilization. No Hard Disk design, not even 15.000RPM SCSI devices in multiple RAID cofigurations can come close to providing a fraction of the real-world performance of PuRam™ Technology.
Which is first off obviously a great exaggeration, RAM can operate at those speeds....But not when hooked up
as a storage controller, the limit will be 150MB/S.
Don't believe me, straight from Cenatek on their front page (quote from Smart Computing):
[Rocket Drive] screamed through our HD Tach 2.61 and Winbench99 hard drive benchmarks. It averaged stunning 103.2MBps read and 76.9MBps write rates, with maximums just a few tenths higher, and an ungodly access time of 0.063ms. In Winbench, the Rocket moved 30,200KBps in the Business Disk benchmark and 77,200KBps in the High-End Disk test.
    -Smart Computing
Access times would however, be awesome. As would be internal HD transfers(but nowhere near 8GB/s)

I think it costs an extra $5k to add it on. These are no compromise machines, they are trying to make them as fast as possible with no consideration to cost, it seems. The PuRam cartridge looks very small, about the size of a notebook HD.
I don't know the archetecture, but I am sure they implement the PuRam in a way that allows it to use it to it's fullest capacity, and surely not thru PCI. Possibly a custom motherboard? I don't know.
Size of a notebook hd eh, no ******* way. Look at the cenatek.

    This is juvenile.

But you don't have to admit it, anyone can see clearly in this thread that you were wrong.
No I believe it is clear that the stuff that I've commented about is clearly true.

I don't really care if you are wrong or not, but all I'm doing is sharing stuff that I have found that I think is relevant to building a better car PC and you got on my case.
I'm familiar with how forums work and everything, and I know how people can be, and I know the dynamics of member interaction. You want to talk about maturity but clearly you have yet to learn how to excercise it, you contributed
to this madness and kept it going.

Really look at the site more carefully, and the other information as well.
They may be selling computers, but they are DEFINATELY lying about the specs.
And I mean lying, some of the statements go way beyond "marketing"

DinoBite We all know you meant well and tried to find new technology that could help us build a better, faster PC for car use. But you gotta admit that this L crap is fake. I know you're a smart guy and can figure out the authenticity of a new product just by searching the net, but the fact that you believe something like this and trying so hard to defend that L is real is well, asking for a good flaming.
You said in post #9 that PuRAM is a size of a laptop harddrive and in post #12 that "ALL THE PARTS EXIST!! " then in post #18 "And by the way. PuRam? - http://www.cenatek.com/index.cfm " THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS "PuRAM"!! the link you mentioned is for a RocketDrive that has 132mb/s burst and 80-115mb/s sustain. no where near the 8gb/s they talked about and it's not the size of a laptop HDD.
Also, a quote taken from http://www.go-l.com/desktops/machl38...ture/index.htm "Combined with an optional RAMDrive module, you can get up to a colossal 16Gigs of Memory, breaking the 4GB barrier" the 4GB barrier is the system RAM barrier. With a RAMDrive module you can get up to 16GB of RAM? First off, RAMDrive uses memory sticks for storage not system ram. 2nd, the picture of the RAMdrive is a 64bit PCI slot used in servers. The motherboard shown is a regular mobo that only accepts 32bit PCI card. 3rd, according to cenatek, the biggest total ram for that is up to 4GB with plans for 8GB later. Where the hell did L get the cenatek with 16GB from?
This is too good to be true, for now anyway. As you have said it before, the technology is there but its not avaliable yet. Intel has the abality to produce a Pentium CPU at 5Ghz back in 2001 and last year They demonstrated a CPU that ran at 10Ghz. And what's the fastest avaliable CPU today? A pussy *** 3.2Ghz.

The ebay item is a freaking joke and anyone who bid on it is the stupidest moron in the world. Read the bottom. "*allow up to 30 days for processing" Translation - give me 30 days head start to run away with your 6 grand.
