    lateral g's

i was thinking of putting some kind of intrument that would measure the lateral g's my car is pulling so that i could make some kind of warning system on my carputer so that if i was pulling to much i could slow down and prevent a spin. any way to incorperate this device into an obd II reading program so i could monior g's and other vital info at the same time?

The G-Tech reads lateral force (but doesn't have any output options) Maybe get an accelerometer and interface though an open port?

I don't really see how it's going to do much good, since it has so much to do with road surface, weather, temperature, etc.

yeah, but you can get an idea of what kind of g's your car can handle in different conditions. you wouldnt want to push it to the edge anyways, unless on the track

I have an air freshner hanging from my rear-view mirror. I noticed that it sort of acts as a g-force-ometer. I find that things can get a bit twitchy when it goes over 45 degrees from vertical when going round a bend.... lol

You don't need a g force meter to tell you're pushing your cars limits, you should be able to feel this with the ***-dyno or you have no business driving that fast.

the *****-o-meter is pretty reliable.... not affected by
adrenilline, or by the "luv to get *** hanging" factor

jettamasta - If you drive much at all, you will start to *feel* your car and understand its limits, or safe limits (There is a differance, I push both while on small twisty neighbrohood roads with friends at night ) I'm guessing you don't drive ever/much to be able to not know when your car is pushing the edge.. I dont know what engine you have there in your Jetta. But, when i switched from 2.0 to vr6 (vw golf) that was fun. Before testing your car to the limits make it safe: suspension+stress bars( they do great job).
