OK, one last time...

I have to ask this one last time before I throw my whole system out! I have a PCChips BookPC (Yeah I know it's not the best), a Xircom USB to Serial Adapter and the IRMAN. Now here is the problem that I have been trying to figure out for MONTHS! Windows will recognize the serial port, and I can select whatever serial port I like. But once I use Girder, Cobra III or even the WinAmp plugin, it says it can't recognize the IRMAN on the serial port.

I have read others on here that have gotten it to work with the Xircom, that is why I bought it, cause I already wasted my time and money on a cheaper USB to Serial converter.

Now here is the question, is there ANYBODY on here that has gotten this combo to work for them, and if they have can they PLEASE send me an email to help me out.

I havn't gotten that combination to work, but I've had a lot of grief with a USB to serial port adaptor and a Sony VAIO. Before you chuck it / flog it, make sure you're using the most upto date drivers you can get, both for the interface and for the MB's USB port.

It does not sound like the serial port is working at all. 1st start simple, can you get a simple console program to run over the USB adapter? After you verify that the Serial port is working on simple stuff, then work your way up to tweaking it to run the IRMan.

I have been using a Xircom USB to Serial for a bunch of stuff, Console, Palm Pilot(But never an IRman) and have never had a problem with it.
What version of the drivers are you useing?

hey, does the program you are using look for COM ports above 3? I just had this problem last week when I installed my new serial card. for some reason, I went from COM1 (onboard) to COM5 & 6. My GPS program wouldn't recognize anything above COM4. I had to move the touchscreen from 1 to 5 and put my cell modem on 6.

just check this out before you get really ****ed.
