I have a simple thing to do. Download everything from an artist you like, and start listening Heh.. That brought my collection from around 400 in September to around 1200-1500 now

another thing ive thought about is that on longer trips no doubt i want my MP3s but for small trips like to and from class, to the grocery store, to work, etc it doesnt seem like id take the trouble to find something to listen to
easier thing to do is just flip on the radio unfortunately

I have over 200 CD's I've been buying since 95, so approx 10 songs per cd, thats 2000 songs. That should last a while

Shuffle, and hit fastforward if you are not in the mood for a certain song.

I've got (as of last night) 2400 songs, which I got MusicBrainz to go through and check all the tags

I have them set into folders, and I also have an "All.m3u" which just plays them all, and is on shuffle

If you have 5000 mp3 songs, how do you page through those while driving. Talk about un safe. I have about 500 songs and this is perfectly suitable. If you listen to the radio they only have a playlist of about 30 songs max. Especially smaller statiions may only play up to 15 different songs plus a few requests which are usually songs on there play list anyway. The only thing that makes radio more interesting is the DJ's in between songs.

if you load up a list of 5000 songs I don't think you would expect to go paging through it all. Thats what playlists are for. Play your "allsongs.m3u" list of 5000 if you simply want to play endless tunes at shuffle.

    DJ's get on my nerves....
