    Right now it's DVR-MS. DVR-MS is an MPEG-2 file that includes metadata about the recorded program to be stored. I'm not thrilled about it but for right now I'm using M$ Media Center 2004 as I wait for SageTV Ver. 2.

    The highest quality is about 3 Gig per Hr. and is pretty damn good, BUT the format can not be edited or converted right now which sucks. Oh, well.

    I honestly have no idea what your second question is.
