Sister needs an easy car mp3 solution

Hey..my sister wants a car mp3 player for her husband as a valentines day present. She lives down in florida and I'm in nebraska, so I can't really help her install anything. She knows nothing about computers, so my question is....what route do you all think she should take?

On one hand, she could get a lil portable mp3 player for a few hundred and just run a line in to the dash stereo(if it has a 1/4 line in).

Or she could spend a crapload on an in-dash mp3 player. I know there are better ways to go about it, but that might be her only option.

Do car stereo companies install anything like this yet, or is it still basically a DIY job? I don't know how much she's lookin to spend, but the 500 bucks for the in-dash player seems a bit high by her reaction.

What does everyone think? Any specific devices you would recommend for either circumstance?

yeah...what I meant by in-dash was...a standalone mp3 player(hard drive)...not a mp3-CD player. The cheapest I've seen them for is about 500 bucks on ebay, but it's hard to do a good search cause everytime I type in "car mp3 player", I get a bunch of CD decks that play mp3-CDs. I should of clarified. Sorry, my fault.

What kind of car? I know Audi's and VW's (maybe others?) have the option to add a PhatNoise (like the Kenwood Music Keg). I say :google: it.

not sure...pretty sure it's a truck..maybe a 2000+ Ford F-150.

Hum probably should try getting a Kenwood (or see who else has something like this) headunit and get the music keg too. It is like a harddrive that holds your MP3s. I know Pioneer has a headunit like this but you have to load your songs via CD. The musickeg hooks up to your computer.

yeah i was looking at that kenwood system. if she's got the cash to burn that'd be the way to go without getting a PC.
