battery life Limitation comments on this

im looking at a way of keeping my computer running at all times in my truck, i plan on using a deep Cycle aux battery and a 12v DC solar panel mounted on the dash, while at night the computer will enter standby mode saving power, does anyone else have another alternive to this?

    im running XP on M100000

run an extension cord to your car while not running...

But really ditch the solar panel Idea. I had one and they dont work so well. they are meant for trickle charging only. At least the small ones that say they can be used to "maintain" your battery. We used these when I wasin the army, and they never worked that well. We had lots of problems with dead batteries with people do stupid little things like leaving the dome lights on, and the solar panel still couldn't keep up with that. Plus there like $120.00 a piece. Not worth it...TRUST ME

okay so the solar panel is not that great, i guess ill just throw in 2 aux batteries, i know for a fact that 2 bateries can support a 2000 watt PHD2 erath quake amp pushing 2 15" L7 solo's for 20 mins hitting 145 db's so the m10000 should only be pulling about 30 watts / by 2000 = 66 x 20 = 1320 mins / 60 mins = 22 hours of aux power. recharging took 35 mins using 190 amp alt @ 920 RPM's and 01 ga cable wire

not true, solar technology has moved on in leaps and bounds, with my parcel shelf covered I could produce around 2 amps at 12V in daylight, with around £50 of panels - probably not enough to cover pc use in night - depends how many solar pans you wanna fit...

Use the solar panels and park under a street light at night.
