I believe Gold does 128bit encryption whereas Silver does 64bit, most likely not a big deal for what you'll want to use it for!
I want to buy an orinoco card so I can use my 802.11 antenna, but I'm not sure which one to grab. Obviously the gold should have some advantages over silver, but what are they? and can the gold receive the connection from an antenna?
Thanks!

So is the silver like the gold in that it is just a PCMCIA card inside the plastic case? I just need to be able to use it with my antenna, you're right the encryption doesn't really matter to me, can degrade the speed anyhow.
That is what I have been told, I'm still looking for a deal on a USB Orinoco so I cannot comment for sure, I've just used PCMCIA Silver cards a lot in laptops.Originally Posted by AutoInnovations

I've been told by numerous people here that it's good, and I'm glad I found the 7dbi. For a while there I was having a hard time finding one for PCMCIA on ebay.
