    Exclamation

Had my Cherokee broken into a few weeks ago. Passenger window broke. Dash panel shredded. New $120 Aiwa pulled out.
I was pretty ****ed off until I saw the $150 Matrix Orb LCD still duct taped to the (now destroyed) dash panel! Computer in the back was untouched.

Thank God no thieves follow this list!

Am I the only one who thinks sirens and backup sirens are a waste?

Everbody has sirens and they're all always going off all the time. No one pays attention anymore. They're just annoyed.

I live on a deadend street which is normally very quiet, where mostly old retirees live and we have a neighborhood watch progrma. If you bounce a basketball once out in the street, you'll have people looking out at you from 3-4 houses within 30 seconds. But the other day my alarm went off accidentally and you know want? Not one of them looked. Not one.

I doubt a thief is concerned about the alarm.

So personally I'm sticking to ignition disabling systems and just hoping. My doors have electronic keypad entry systems (93 maxima, standard) so hopefully that's enough to clue in to any thief that there is at least a stock alarm, whether or not it actually makes lots of noise in practice.

You totally correct. Alarms and sirens are a total waste of time nowadays. I had my headunit ripped out of my dash while my car was parked in my Uni carpark in broad daylight, with my car alarm siren going off. but did any one do any thing, or did it stop the theif? NO! Car immobolisers are good, but back up sirens are worthless nowadays. The only sort of car alarm worth any thing are the pager style ones. But a good theif could be in and out of your car with all ur expensive Audio or AV equipment before you could get there in most cases.
