Red face keepin it simple pays off

I d like to share a story with everyone about and incident inlcluding car stereos. One night after work my friend that was parked next to me got her cd player and cd's stolen. When I found out, I was scared because she was parked right next to my truck (which has a computer inside). Earlier that day the same girl was driving around the parking lot blasting her music and bass. Just goes to show you that you gotta keep it simple. My mp3 setup consists of a cassette player which is not enticing for a car theif to steal. If they saw my mp3box they would probably think it was a bomb or something, with all the wires and stuff. I had no cd's to steal either! Mp3's saved my truck!!

I don't think it has anything to do with what kind of car u drive. Thieves listens to what u are playing and how lound. The louder it is then they know u have after market ****. Anyway, when they pay a visit to your car, they will find out immediately that your stereo is NOT stock and then proceed to butcher your car. Take it from me, my brothers car (Honda) have been broken into 3 times and they stole his expensive systems....

    Red face

Your all crazy! Factory speakers just cant produce the sounds I want to hear. I have a 97 Saturn SL2 and the stereo was really bad. I dont crank it up for attention or to annoy people. I am also not a BASS head. I have 2 JBLs in the front door and 2 Polks in the rear deck. I'm running an amp the pushes near 40 watts to each. I also have a pioneer deck. I love the way the sound surrounds you and the fact it no longer sounds hollow. Granted some factory sounds better than others but if you like to hear the full effect of you music get rid of the factory! I've but alot of systems in for friends and the differnce is increadible. Now what I dont like is when people pop subs in and do not replace the factory..... Then drive around with a 45 degree tilt on the seat like they are joe cool..... Trunk vibrating license plate rattling... You know what I'm talking about....

    Just my 2 cents.....

    Unhappy

It is sad, but it's hard to have anything nice without fear of being jacked. Personally, I love music, and I am putting a good amount of money into my system. I don't care much about showing off, I just want to hear my beats nice and clean.

mp3pc, I do know what you're talking about, and it's pretty nasty when people only drop in a sub. However, I heard a system that had the premium sound package for the car, with a crossover added to isolate the bass for a 10" vega, and it sounded really good.

    Everything has to go together.

If you have nothing to compare it to (or perhaps you like that sound), a stock unit may sound just right.

If you replace just the speakers, it may sound a bit better (depending on the car).

If you leave the speakers and just drop in an amp, it probably won't sound better.

If you get a nice headunit, good amps, good wires, good speakers, and a SUB that was designed (in sound and size) to go with the rest of the package, and you fine tune it with a good crossover. That will sound better than stock.

What is funny is that the car dealers already charge about $500 for the "premium sound"

If they steal your stocker stereo, it is almost as painful financially as if they stole your nice custom.

Yah I have a friend that ran all factory speakers. He reran new wire from deck to a passive EQ and had a 4 channel amp running them..... He also had an old orion sub. It was tweaked up and sounded great. Nice even sound. So some factory speaker sound OK at times.

Go the extra and add an alarm. It might now keep a pro theif away but it will keep the punks away. Also do not advertise..... Sure you may feel cool to have a rockford sticker on your front or rear window but thats only attracting thiefs. I have detachable face and factory speaker grills. Also bolt your stuff in good. If they are going to take it make them WORK for it

My neighbors car was parked in my driveway late one night. His car windows busted out and everything stolen. Yet my car was untouched. He has an 84 blazer, I have a 97 saturn..... was it the red blinking light, the warning stickers on the door or the fact that they couldnt see if it was factory or not... who knows......

Has anyone had an MP3 box stolen?
