    AM/FM Card for PC

I found a bunch of FM type cards or USB Hardware but none that does AM as well.

Anyone know where I can get one or if they even exist?

There was an old ISA board that did it, search for the Cadet in froogle.
The is the upcoming radioshark from griffin that is supposed to be PC compatible (its USB)

I also heard of some COMPORT ones, but not sure if its any good.

so in short: none at the moment. This sucks since in Canada the news, hockey game and traffic reports are better heard on AM radio

There was a thread on this just recently here. I just got the radio-man (AM/FM) today and it's decent, easy to learn the protocol if you want to do your own thing, and the software that comes with it works with XP.

curiosity can you post screen shots of the software please

does the audio quality sound great?

I am really up to give it a try now that you said its actually working.

think it would work on win98 trough a com-2-USB adapter?
(I have a kiosk computer for my car - no comports.)

Sure. Here's a screenshot. It's old Windows 95 software and still works. Amazing! Well, the mute and volume controls don't work very well but that's probably an XP thing. The sound isn't the best, but I'm in the basement and picking up quite a few stations so I figure it will be great in the car. It's powered off the serial port and I'm sure the RTS line has to be high. Not sure about DTR. Anyway, I think a USB adapter would work as long as it doesn't take more than the max USB power requirements.

Ooh, no. Try looking at the picture on your touchscreen. It's pretty hard to hit some of the buttons like tune and scan, but I'm sure there will be more software available for it soon. Want pics of the guts? There's a big chunk of steel in it for weight and let's see... a PIC16C56-XT/50, Sony CXA1238M, 2614FS and an AM coil. I'll be doing a USB mod on it tonight I think.

USB Mod - as in managing a serial-USB directly in it?

Yep. I chopped up a USB cell phone data cable I had laying around, but now I can't figure out how to connect it. As far as I can tell it doesn't pull much power though so it should be good for a serial-USB thing.
