Remove windows login / welcome screen

I know this has been answered before and I have searched BUT

My pc logged in all the way to the desktop until I loaded all the Microsoft updates and SP1 for XP Pro now I can not get rid of the screen where I must click on my user name (and yes there is only one name) to get in.

What do I do to remove it ? which MS package makes this a forced selection, I want to boot up and go straight into my *player, I dont want to have to click on the screen to gain access etc

    Help

uncheck <Users must enter a user name and pw to use this computer>

    goto the CONTROL PANEL
    User Accounts
Change the way users log on or off

Tried that and it doesnt work, I still have to click OK, and my password is blank, I am sure a windows update that I installed is preventing this from doing its thing, is it time to hack the registry ? if so how ?

Me as the administrator and it says guest account off and ASP.NET limited account which is password protected, I think the system automatically created this account, I certainly did not

    Hey!
have you tried using the auto admin registry key?
I can send you a copy of it if you want it.
All you have to so is import it and enter the password you want under the right value and it will log in for you whenever you boot up your machine

i wouldnt use the adminsitrator account, just incase something happens to that account. you wouldnt be able to log into the computer. i recommend you create another user account, call it CARPC.

after creating that account, go back to what i said earlier/

    START/ RUN / control userpasswords2

    on the USERS tab
uncheck <Users must enter a user name and pw to use this computer>

    goto the CONTROL PANEL
    User Accounts
Change the way users log on or off
    uncheck <Use the Welcome screen>

    that should fix your problem.
